  1. I used a BW robe set (karmian before that), a homu, along with +12wit dyes on mine, and had a smooth leveling experience by combining magic from distance, and melee hits for finishing.
As for my heavy armor phase, I used Avadon set, damascus+shield or B-duals (preferably with othell focus bestowed) and full +str -con dyes (or maybe 1 +4wit), again making some magic hits until mobs reached me, then switched to auto-attack.

From my playthrough, I was totally fine with the BW robe set and magic, up until my mid 60s when soloing started to not quite make it. That's when I made the switch to Avadon HV, which I'd like to put emphasis on, as I believe to be the most suitable one, for the main reason that it'll cover you the most, overall, compared to the rest B grade HV sets, and will also not take away any of your stats, rather gift you +1 con. Some people choose BW, but I'm not a big fun - yes, it gives +3 str, yet it takes away -2 dex and -1 con, has no +% shield def rate, on top of providing less P.Def and HP (relatively to Avadon).

Budget-wise, Avadon heavy is cheaper than BW robe, so you might wanna go straight for this option, and save money for a strong weapon. But bare in mind, leveling in parties is definitely a lot faster, and if you choose to go with anything other than BW robe, you'll be missing a lot of mana, which will probably be for the worst in group play cases.

Good luck though, fellow Seer - please feel free to contact me for any further inquiry I may be able to provide you. Prophet leveling is a very interesting experience, and one I truly loved, you can basically experiment with anything really, and have decent results nonetheless.

  2. Hey I'm at the same spot as you! Recently switched to main a prophet, and am also looking into gear alternatives like heavy armors, con dyes etc.
After some tests and thoughts, I "may" have decided to go for doom heavy and +12 wit, not sure about rune yet, maybe casting speed. Prophets are probably the most "under-used" class as an active, so I thought to myself: "if I'm gonna be a useless active PP, I may at least be a living, useless, active PP".
Doom offers good health pool and defenses that BW light doesn't - fact that allows you to go full wit dyes on Doom, and not give up any of it for +con, like the case of BW L. Personally I would like to keep some sustainability in my group when it comes to healing, so I'm definitely looking to keep that M.Crit from wit, yet since I am not the bishop, I don't feel the need for the extra casting speed of BW L. And don't worry about the debuffs, they are already fast enough.
As for weapon, if I do decide to go for the Doom set, it will certainly be sword+shield - make good use of doom shield passive.

The thing is, it's nigh impossible to retain reasonable revenue just from just accessories - there's a very limited ammount of people who buy stuff that doesn't bring them any real advantage. This is reason why auction house exists the way it does and why there're death deal certs and bresses in nostalgia shop. If we want the server to keep existing in a long run, we need to accept that some things that are offered for $ simply won't be 100% influence-free. But then again, at the point these three 15-minutes long transformations already exist on server (on future updates there's a 4th transform added and all transforms have duration increased to 20 minutes), the strategic significance of the armor skins would be virtually non-existent.

But even if someone bought these for a theoretical 'strategic advantage', why should that be such an issue? It wouldn't have to be directly bought as a service for €, it could be sold for COL so anyone who wouldn't want to pay for it could buy the COLs for adena. If anything, it would bring a potential strategic depth to the game - but then again, transformations already exist so the real strategic impact would be zero.

Ideally (from my point of view), BSOR and death certs shouldn't be purchasable with COL either, but of course I wouldn't support this change because a server needs money, it's a small sacrifice we may afford. And still, as you mentioned, everyone can buy anything with adena turned into COL, a fact that diminishes the p2w element. Certainly everyone could also buy transformations through adena. The problem from my perspective though, is not whether everyone would have access to this or only hard p2w players. I'd find it frustrating and problematic even if they went off for free, because it'd take away the element of studying your enemy. Everyone could be everything.
On another example, if wow classic was to introduce transmogs, it would be less of a case because the game works with specific "BiS" items, you can't work (much) around you gear, it's a lot more specific than L2 classic. A sws could wear BW/Doom/MJ/NM (etc) and every set would offer a different approach to the player and their enemy. (If of course it's a sws and not TK or w/e). In addition, current transforms are temporary, unlike the appearance stone suggestion.
All of that, assuming that we at least keep same type of gear while transformed (heavy/light/robe), 'cause it'd be even more """hilarious""" if type was also changed.
To conclude, it's about the game/playstyle, not the money.

Classic is mostly about the nostalgia and remembering the good old days, and a lot of people have some kind of set that they have special attachment to (for me it's probably compo). I think it'd be a damned shame to miss this opportunity to make the game more memories-reviving.

Certainly, and the whole idea may be food for thought for a future project - in addition to bringing money to administration and joy to community. But such changes shouldn't affect the strategy of a battle. Maybe an extra spell that transforms the user temporarily, probably with shared cooldown with current transforms, could be a decent approach.

would arguably make the game look much more classic-ish as people would wear various armors of all grades instead of just the top ones - e.g. Chain Set or Theca Leather basically don't exist atm.

To be honest it'd be weird to see PvP in Theca at GC - but that's just me. 😜
Still I'd stick with my view of "knowing your enemy", which we may never find out due to a permanent transmog. At least current transformations end at some point or when one is in city. Besides, I personally find it cool when characters pop in cities with latest gear, enchanted etc etc. Imagine seeing the first blue A-grade armor. People would gather around as if it's an art exhibit (sorta).

Leugue of legends perfect example for this system.

Well, sure Ahri would still jump on me with her ult, despite her being a kpop soldier or mozila - I am aware of her skills nonetheless, and can even see how powerful she is through her items. This comparison is not cohesive though - what you should actually say is "Ahri carrying Death's Cap and make it look like Unholy grail". Similar items, yet so so so different, and here lies the problem. Avadon is worn by specific classes, for specific reasons, and so does BW, and any armor. So if I see you in Doom HV, will I hesitate more to focus on you if you were wearing BW HV (which offers less defences, yet more stun resist)? Probably. Not to mention how everyone would change their top grade weapons to look like the lowest of the same grade. It's not just about fashion in our case, appearance of the enemy gives you info for them, their weaknesses, class etc. It's the tiny details in armor stats that make each class and playstyle unique. The 3 transformations we have are already enough, and fortunately last for couple of minutes while having big cooldowns. This is as much as we need to add some thrill, and force ourselves to remember enemy classes through their names, from previous battles.

actually no, both tests actually prove what @Kure said. compare difference between first test homunkulus+0 no buffs, homunkulus +5 no buffs and homunkulus+0 all buffs. compared to first test, homunkulus+5 has only 100 more m atk in char stats while homunkulus all buffs have 600 more m atk in char stats, but the healing output is almost same, because M atk of weapon is much bigger in second test than in third, thats why you can assume

I don't see how this disagrees with me and agrees only with @Kure. I do accept the fact that weapon Matk affects healing, what seems not to be the case is that Matk buffs do not affect healing, which they do. Now, of course it seems clear that weapon Matk is more important. Still, I would like to know why Matk buffs combined increase heal for less than "expected" if we consider each one's % increase.

  8. 2 hours ago, Kure said:

Thats why empower etc on bishops is in most cases overbuff. Afaik it works correctly.

Well, normal buff (emp) and dance (mystic) on both tests, disagree with this. Besides, I didn't mention that Matk from weapon mastery passive also affects healing numbers.

Indeed though, the difference is not a huge deal. Although I'd really like to know if the combination of Matk+ buffs intentionally decreases the outcome of each one, as mentioned on first test.

  9. I've run some tests on OBT regarding the way heal scales and noticed some possible "issues".
Info: Cardinal 78, Weapon Master 45, Clan empower 1, no armor, no dyes, blessed spiritshots used accordingly.
Skill used: Greater Battle Heal 36
    a) Homu +0 / No buffs  ~> Matk 612 , Heal 1242

             / Dance Mystic 2 ~> Matk 733 , Heal 1275
                          / Emp 3  ~> Matk 982 , Heal 1336

    / Emp + Dance Mys ~> Matk 1199 , Heal 1343
From this test it feels as if both skills increase healing by X% and Y%, but each x,y% seem to be slightly decreased when both buffs are combined?! Weird:
    612 -> 733 means a ~19% increase in Matk, and 1242 -> 1275 means a ~2% increase in healing
    612 -> 982 means a ~60% increase in Matk, and 1242 -> 1336 means a ~7% increase in healing

    612 -> 1199 means a ~95% increase in Matk, and 1242 -> 1343 means an ~8% increase in healing

    b) There's a "common knowledge" I've seen in many l2 classic posts (including in this forum) stating that grade of weapon is what actually affects healing, and not Matk. The test I did debunks this theory, while also proving that Matk does indeed affect healing, despite of weapon grade.

    Homu +5 / No buffs  ~> Matk 717 , Heal 1323                                               Valh +0 / No buffs  ~> Matk 717, Heal 1323

          /Dance Mystic 2 ~> Matk 862 , Heal 1363                                                    /Dance Mystic 2 ~> Matk 862 , Heal 1363

                       / Emp 3 ~> Matk 1171 , Heal 1394                                                                / Emp 3 ~> Matk 1171 , Heal 1394

    / Emp + Dance Mys ~> Matk 1426 , Heal 1401                                             / Emp + Dance Mys ~> Matk 1426 , Heal 1401

I do not know if this is how things are meant to work or even if there's some hidden math on the first issue I mentioned in order to balance/nerf healing output.
In addition, I've been away from classic for quite a while, so these may be "old news" - still, I thought it'd be nice to share results in case there's some kind of mistake requiring checking.

    Hello people of classic club!

i was itching for something more old-school then all these new age mmos that take your hand every step of the way - gosh thats boring. so you can imagine my delight when i found this gem of a server. as the title says, its been forever since i played L2, so naturally i have plenty of questions. here we go

    • so i'm starting off by leveling a cleric(PP) for boxing and to get back into the grind. killing 20 mobs and sitting down for 20 mins to regenerate mana is such a drag. so i've seen some post suggesting going with light armor and a dagger or dual swords. does anyone have experience with this, what is the best weapon for this and is it reasonable?

    • next up, what are the best main options, being supported by a box PP? i would like to play something that is relevant for pvp and doesn't have the worst time leveling. what classes that can do this are actually sought after in pvp? (BD maybe?)

    • i'm currently level 23 using the novice wand, just hit enough adena to buy the top no-grade from the shop, sitting at 2k noob spirit shots. should i buy it, or try to get to 25 with the novice wand, in order to get the exchange token for a d-grade weapon? got recked in ruins of despair 😧

    • i see a lot of people talking about cp, what does stand for? (not the additional hp kind of cp)

    • read somewhere that you can actually get gear as rewards for supporting the server, how does it work?

    • and lastly, do you know or happen to run guilds that are lowlevel friendly? i only saw one such post on the recruitment forum and haven't heard back from the person.

if anyone wants to party up, pm or mail me ig, DeepSeaBaby is the name

thats it for now. loving this nostalgia trip so far ❤️ cheers

    >Low level soloing isn't a thing on this classic version. We do bosses and level to 40s in a matter of hours. Just get a nice D bow and enter RB parties, there always seems to be many of them. After your 2nd class transfer you may start looking for aoe parties (on top of RBs), which are also pretty active and easy to find, and you'll most likely be welcomed as a buffer (even if they may have high wc). You could always do some soloing while waiting, although the outcome may not be worthy of your adena investment in duals/light - considering you are also a new player. Mind you, on this version might of heaven works on any enemy - I personally used my karmian+homu on my bishop, when I was bored enough to not deal with teammates, and even windstrike/disrupt was pretty decent in cemetery and such, although I had high level mp regen rune 😛
    >Most melee DD classes benefit well by a boxed PP, tyrant is a solid example, which is also godly tier in pvp. If you choose to go on the bards way (sws,bd) it's also fine, although these classes always have a VIP invitation in aoe/rb parties (and certainly in future pvp ones), so you may find yourself not even needing the PP most of your time. Personal experience again, couple of years ago I leveled my sws to 77 and never even used any kind of boxed buffer for once.
    >Top no grade weapon, 2003 all over again 😅 (no, don't waste your precious adena)
    >Constant Party. It's a party, although not a random one. You look for members and decide upon a (usually) 4 hour (prime) play schedule, and that's when you all log in and do staff together - It's mostly for 70+ levels, but of course smaller levels make them too.
    >Dunno, lemme know if you find out :3 (unless you mean donating 10$, turning them into coins of luck, selling them for around 20kk adena, and getting your sparkling gear)

    >Many clans with 6-10% bonus xp passive (and a few other skills, if not all) are always looking for low members. Just click the "Clan Entry" and boom, you'll have a harder time choosing which clan has a better looking crest, than actually joining one.

    Cheers and have fun!

Trying to debate is an immature attitude?

Why would GMs care about me bumping the thread on a daily basis? I just thought it was a pressing issue and I was willing to bump it to raise awareness, as long as it took. Should GMs ban people on trade section for bumping their own threads too?

Also please don't ban me, I am nothing in life without my liked post count.

p.s. spank? dear? are you a 60 year old british nanny?

Are these questions I'm meant to answer?
I will at least deny the fact that you wished to "debate", since clearly your first words were "nerf" and "fix", in a way most probably suiting your gameplay's comfort. Besides you showed little to no evidence of why you wish for this nerf - just your biased opinion produced by your loss against FW MoHs (taken from your answers on that other QQ post). I'm just gonna head over and create few posts, literally just asking for changes that will make me hero next month, and of course will spam them on a daily basis, just like trade section (which seems to work in the same way as general discussion does nowadays).

PS: Yes, ineed, I am but a humble old hag.

  13. I'm sorry but you create this whole fuss about a spell - which you have every right to do most certainly, any voice and opinion about improving a game's experience should definitely be heard -, but what I cannot accept as a person is immature attitudes, and you dear are having one. Bumping your own post so admins notice you or be like "oh oh we gotta do something here otherwise he won't stop spamming" - tbh if I were an admin I'd at least give you a "spank" for this, and ban your forum participation for a while. Your way of asking for something to be given to you is, at the very least, childish.
    Deepest respects though. #no_beef

So even if you are wrong, you still want this spell changed just because you can't find a way to defeat same geared se/ee/bp/pp (2 of whom don't even bare any CC/utility)? A real diplomat.

it prints the data in a way that's operable within the game's code.

This could probably be true, although the way it seems to "move" while changing the point of view, implies that it could've been made in a similar way an open window (that could never be accessed) would've been made - which, from my understanding, shouldn't be pixelated nor in today's nor in the past's code, unless the whole game was pixelated to a certain extend - which it was - (or at least, could have been fixed nowadays, as a moving texture). Besides, the "place" seen inside the mirror seems to never change throughout the chronicles (your photos are proof too), not to mention how it doesn't resemble the area around it at all (just gives the feeling of flora/sky, as a forest should do).
Or maybe.... The area in the mirror, was meant to show us... It was actually left there to... Uh, never mind my words - what good could ever come out of a bishop's mouth anyway.

  16. So I was farming in forest of mirrors, when I came across the "mirror" monster. Of course I tried figuring out whether it was actually mirroring the environment around it, although what I came to realize was a bit more interesting. It definitely doesn't reflect the surrounding area, it's a standard texture, but what grasped my attention was the fact that it was not of good quality, kind of pixelated. This made me think how this image in the mirror may be the closest glimpse we could ever have to the very early stages of the game, where texture was not as good as it is now - the developers made progress throughout the years, improving the quality of a 2003 PC game's world, but it seems like they never touched this monster again or even remembered how it's also a reflection of the same world.

  17. Every class has a harder time xping solo than in group, in most cases at least. You are gonna be loved as a BD, you don't even need a cp nor a boxed pp nor waste your time soloing, since by the time you log in, there will almost always be a party looking for a BD to either tank/buff or pull aoe. Would definitely recommend the class for casual gaming (besides sws, which used to be my main). In addition, these two classes are not very populated, thus a treasure hunted by CPs/clans for future sieges/epics/wpvp.
