AoC is dead, are there any plans?

The AoC project was announced to be closed today. This project was the hope for many to revitalize the free PvP MMORPG. Now there are a lot of disappointed people on the internet looking for a replacement for their shattered dreams and hopes. Are there any plans to wipe/merge the existing servers and launch a new one with a predefined life and a plan (roadmap) that would define what will happen to the server in the next 20 months, let's say?
