I once read about this word:

zandzeepsodemineraalwatersteenstralen

Which was supposedly the longest non-compound word in the Dutch language and meant 'to sod off'. Haven't found it in dictionaries since that one time, though.

That being said, Dutch allows for compound nouns, which would basicly mean you could just keep on tagging words to another word and you'd have a perfectly valid word. Example:

Hottentottententententoonstellingsorganisatorenvergaderingsruimtebekledingverkopersaktetas.

Which I just made up and means the briefcase of of a salesman of room decorations for the meeting rooms of organizers of exhibits of a special kind of tents called hottentotten tents. You can just add more things inbetween or after it to make it longer.

Hooray for Dutch, right?
