I think what u said jzOo is wrong. Lets take imaginary example. If u could wear heawy armor and have -10% damge on nuker wouldnt u take it ? Now question is just how much beneficial that shield is vs 21 m. Atk...

there is no such thing as wrong and right there is nothing black and white in l2 set ups, everything has its use at different circumstances

 

 

PS:download OBT and go create a char at ur levels with ur class and try dyes/gear/spots to farm. spend some time there and come in live to do what u feel best fit for you

shield makes u dodge magical skills aswell , if you perma macro from enemies or alot of ponies on enemies its worth to run shield , i always preferd 2h tho

1h magic weapon had Acumen as Special Ability in original chronicles, that's why nukers prefered these weapons for pvp (Homu, Valhalla and Miracles), and that's why nukers prefers low grade sets for pvp (Karmian or Avadon), casting speed is the main stat. Two handed staffs never had acumen, so this type of weapon were avoided.

And of course, what else you gonna equip in the offhand if not a shield?

In Classic, you can put the whatever special ability you want on any weapon, you can get 2h staff with casting speed. So the question is if shield is giving to a nuker more survivability in exchange for less damage. Is something each one has to check, go to arena and see for yourself how many attacks you can block with buffs and without buffs. You can check it with the cheapest shield, more expensive shields only give more defense, not chance to block.

I think a shield doesm't make difference for a low Con class, but is something that has to be proven.

False.

They got same m.attack, that's why most mages prefered 1h weapons + shield over 2h... For example: BoMT = SoM: 152m.attack (both have acumen - IL chronicle)
