Raidbosses should be PvP objectives not methods to exp

Recommended Posts

What made old school Lineage 2 so great was that you'd find people in the field often and at all times of day. One of the areas classic failed is that Raid Boss Exp was so good, it became the best way to exp or power lvl a character up (especially if you could stack a 6 different Exp Boost Items, and log-in/out right before death). This really ruined a major part of Lineage 2 as less people grinded in the Open World and would just wait to get a good Boss spawn or two.

What I suggest is a near-complete overhaul for Raids in Dion x3... Make them desirable not because of their exp, but because of their drops.

Set Raidboss XP/SP to 0.1x
Set Raidboss Drop Chance to 3x (or even 4x/5x)
Set Raidboss Drop Amount to 1x
If there is a way to do this, significantly lower Death Penalty at or around a raidboss. If not, just lower death penalty in general.

On Reborn and other non-classic servers, top clans will fight hard for Epics; but even lower bosses like Galaxia/Golkonda/Naga/Shax many clans (including Mid-Tier clans) will fight over them. Sometimes multiple rounds of PvP too to try to stop and re-take control of those bosses. Some of those best fights are crazy 9v9v9v9s over a random boss like Death Lord Shax.

Ooooooor, just fucking remove xp scrolls 🙂 like most of us are asking. Just my humble opinion.

That would help solve the power-leveling component or logging in and out to save scrolls.

However even still with no exp scrolls, Raid Exp is so good in Classic that it discourages open-field leveling... Why spend 6 buff rounds grinding in an open field/dungeon when you can just spend half that time finding a raidboss or two that are up and kill them for way more exp.

Not to mention, when the server first launches, the group or two that kill raid bosses all the way up will quickly level up and be far ahead of everyone in terms of exp. So Day 1 or 2, you'll have most of the server lvl 30 or so, and then 1 or 2 CPs that are already 5x.

MadPro and Elders were killing many raids the first few days of Skelth. Even casuals like me were able to kill 3x/4x raids a week or so after launch.

thats not a problem of 1.5 patch, afaik on club there were 2 parties killing most of the bosses, was uchihas pt vs demon(dimon? idk, some russian guy) pt, we fought for a lot of bosses, it wasnt particulary good xp or anything, not like you could abuse it much, because there is not much xp boost, bosses are spread around the map, they have too big respawn and there are very few of them after lvl ~60 (i think highest is rahha at 65 lvl, which was impossible to kill unless you bug minions)

problem started to be with too many stackable bonuses in later chronicles and the moment they introduced 21h bosses, which spawned 6-7 bosses on high lvl range (75/80) at same time next to each other and some side dominated those, hopefully they wont introduce them with the update of server, even if there are no xp boosts, coz xp from those bosses was just too insane

i still remember those fights where you pulled boss to narnia and the enemy pt still found you if they knew the boss is alive, you got these kind of pvps for arak on skylancer hill or fight for rahha at westland
